What can you feed the whole family? Soup! It’s easy, cheap, great for the winter, and no one says, “Where’s the meat?” In this video I cook for 7 in a hotel room.

I once ate for a week off a soup that cost me $2.64 cents. I’m not kidding. Buy some veggies and rice and this can last you long past when you’re tired of soup.

Hearty Winter Soup- Tulsa Stew
Ingredients you have to have-
7 cups water or vegetable stock (or a combination)
One onion
Garlic- 5ish cloves
Oil- 3 tbsp
One cup rice and/or once cup lentils
One large or two small potatoes
One can of stewed tomatoes or one can tomato paste or five tomatoes
1 tsp rosemary, basil
Salt and pepper to taste

Chose at least 2 of the following ingredients-
Bunch spinach
Bunch Kale
Bunch of Collard Greens
Bunch of parsley
Broccoli
Can of corn
Can of peas
Zucchini (best if sauteed before putting in)
Can of kidney beans
Can of Garbanzo beans (rinsed thoroughly)
4 carrots (chopped)
4 pieces of celery (chopped)

This is a throw everything into the pot kind of thing. The more you can afford the better. The important thing is to brown the chopped onion and garlic in oil. Then put vegetable stock or water into large pot and start adding everything else cut into small pieces into it. Simmer on low for at least 45 min.
